Ghosts of Water in Fairmount Park, Part 1, with Adam Levine
Adam Levine, historical consultant for the Philadelphia Water Department, gave two talks, in 2020 and 2021, about the water features that once abounded in Fairmount Park, many of which no longer exist. The talks were hosted on Zoom by the Fairmount Park Conservancy, and recorded by that organization. Topics in Part 1 include: the Fairmount Water Works, the Schuylkill Navigation locks at Fairmount, The West Philadelphia (or 24th Ward) Water Works, Spring Garden Water Works, Corinthian Reservoir, East Park Reservoir, East Park Reservoir, Belmont Raw Water Pumping Station, George's Hill Reservoir, water features at the Centennial Exhibition, including the water works, fountains, and lakes; and a dam that once impounded water for the Reading Railroad.
