Thomas Mill Covered Bridge over Wissahickon Creek (Picturesque America)

The old Thomas Mill Covered Bridge still stands on Wissahickon Creek today. The bridge is open to pedestrian traffic and is the only covered bridge left in a major U.S. city.

The 86.5-foot-long Howe truss bridge was originally built in 1855 and has been renovated twice, once in 1939 by the Works Progress Administration and again in 2000 by the City of Philadelphia.
