Chestnut Street Bridge, on the Schuylkill River (Picturesque America)

This shows the original bridge, which opened in June 1866 after five years of construction. It was partially demolished in 1957 to make way for the Schuylkill Expressway; certain elements of the original structure, including the eastern abutment and the central pier, can still be seen on the modern bridge.
