Drawbridge and Dock Creek, Watson’s Annals

Another in the series of engravings from Watson's Annals, this one shows a not-yet-channeled Dock Creek with the Blue Anchor Tavern in the background. Such an image would have only been seen in Philadelphia's earliest years; the drawbridge had been constructed by 1704, and Dock Creek had been covered above Second Street by 1769 and down to its outlet on the Delaware by 1784.
