Bridge Street Draw looking north, ca. 1896
A view of the Bridge Street Drawbridge looking north, circa 1896.
Between 1896 and 1899 two bridges over Frankford Creek, at Bridge Street and Orthodox Street, were rebuilt to facilitate the passage of small boats and barges up and down the creek. This work might have been in response to an 1882 Army Corps of Engineers report, calling for dredging and other improvements to the creek for navigation purposes.
