WHY I LOVE THIS BROCHURE
With its map and many other illustrations, this brochure is like a time capsule of the city from 1957, featuring the highlights of Philadelphia’s attractions almost 70 years ago. Most of these still exist, but several, including Connie Mack Stadium in North Philadelphia and Municipal Stadium in South Philadelphia, are no longer standing. The building that once housed the U.S. Mint is now part of the campus of the Community College of Philadelphia. Thirtieth Street Station, shown on a map inset, today looks even better than it did in this photograph, thanks to several renovations beginning in the 1990s. The photograph of the Philadelphia Museum of Art does not identify the Fairmount Water Works buildings down on the riverside. The complex then housed the Fairmount Park Aquarium, and after a major renovation, now houses a watershed education center, funded by the Philadelphia Water Department.

On this page, I flipped the upper left quadrant. Because of the way the brochure folded, it was upside-down.
