Army Corps of Engineers 1882 Report on Navigation in Frankford Creek
Report from the Army Corps of Engineers on Navigation in Frankford Creek, Philadelphia
One of the interesting features of this eight page report is its physical description of the creek and its limitations as a navigable stream, some of which was reiterated when similar studies were repeated in the early 1930s and the late 1940s. I am unsure how much dredging, if any, was done as the result of this report, although two of the bridges referred to, the Orthodox Street and Bridge Street spans, were reconstructed in the 1890s.
