2,000 Turn Out for ‘Be-In’ To Promote ‘Flower Power’

The following article and photograph are from the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin, April 17, 1967. The event, held in Fairmount Park, was organized by Ira Einhorn and attended by “hippies, teeny-boppers, mods, psychedelics and pretenders.” It took place only four months after the first “Be-In,” held that January in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Thanks to Rob Armstrong for sharing this historic gem, found in the Fairmount Park Historic Resource Archives.
